When Translation Apps Go Bad

There's an Australian girl here, Katherine, who has an app on her phone that allows you to point the camera at a sign or menu in a foreign language and it will overlay English text on the screen so you can read it. It's pretty amazing but it has got it's limitations. It doesn't cope particularly well with elaborate fonts and some of the translations leave a little to be desired. It's for this reason I almost ordered "Mushroom Refugee Woman" for dinner last night, just to see what it actually was. In the end though I stuck to veggie kebabs.
